26 September 2019 – Kosovo-Serbia Policy Advocacy Group (KSPAG) in a combined effort with Institute for Policy Analysis (I4PA) organised the third workshop of a series of activities promoting and communicating the achievements of technical dialogue and impact in the daily lives of citizens. The workshop was held in Ferizaj/Uroševac.
I4PA Executive Director, Dea Gecaj, stated that this activity aims to inform citizens and members of CSOs on the benefits, impact and implementation of the Kosovo-Serbia agreements.
“The purpose of the workshop is to inform citizens on the achievements of the technical dialogue. Civil society has an important role in supporting the positive aspects of the agreements and engaging citizens in the conversation about the dialogue and its outcomes”, said Gecaj.
Dialogue expert, Dren Zeka elaborated chronologically the process of the technical dialogue, the agreements that derived from it and the benefits brought by them. Mr. Zeka, encouraged the participants to follow closely the dialogue process in order to understand the benefits and ways they can contribute to the process.
On the other hand, Balkans Group Policy Officer (BPRG), Abdullah Ferizi, highlighted the purpose the project promoting and communicating the benefits of this process and their impact to the citizens’ daily lives. Understanding the views of various Kosovo groups on the issue of technical dialogue is also of great importance to the whole project, Mr. Ferizi added.
Participants stressed the importance of the dialogue for both Kosovo and Serbia. They shared their experiences before and after reaching an agreement, providing particular emphasis on the benefits they from the free movement agreement. They also stated that the frustration over the non-implementation of these agreements exists for both countries.
Initiatives like this one, said Florina Ujupi, are of particular importance for informing young people on the outcomes of technical dialogue. She encouraged such formats of workshops to be held on a regular basis, as the workshop served to bring the dialogue to the people through more accurate information on it.
